I was Born in Whittier California in 1975. Growing up early on I developed a love of painting, drawing, and craft projects. I began playing guitar when I was twelve years old. Playing music was the most important thing to me as a youth.
My family moved to Boise Idaho when I was a teenager. It was there in high school that I became more focused on art.
Immediately after high school, I moved to Nimrod Oregon on the Mc Kenzie river outside of Eugene. Time I spent in the land in that area only catapulted my desire to walk a creative path. The old growth forests adorned with moss. The crashing waves on the Oregon coast. The snow covered Cascade mountains. It is truly God's country.
I began attending Lane Community College in Eugene. It was here that glass became a part of my life.
The borosillicate artistic movement was still fresh, and very much still taking shape and growing. Artists accomplished so much, with such a limited color palate compared to what we have today.
The glasswork was completely connected to our culture, married with the underground.
There was a pride and a sense of belonging to something that seemed uniquely ours.
In 1996 I moved to Seattle Washington determined to pursue my dream. I studied lampworking (working glass on a blow torch), hot glass casting, as well as traditional glass blowing at Pratt Fine Arts Center in the city.
Shortly after getting my feet wet, I purchased my first torch. I have never looked back since. Since 1996 I have had studios in San Diego, Eugene, Boise, Nederland Colorado, Portland Oregon and Nampa Idaho.
I feel truly blessed that I have glass in my life. It's not always an easy road, but its the road I'm traveling on.
Currently I am living in Idaho with my wife Brianna who also is an accomplished lampworker. Our son Elijah, the light of my life and Natasha, Taddycaster, and Greta our doggies.
